My work examines how identity, threat, personality, and the need for certainty shape political loyalty, participation, and ideological change. I earned a BSc in Psychology from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, an MA in Political Behaviour from the University of Essex, and a PhD in Psychology (political psychology) from the University of Essex. I later completed postdoctoral training in the Department of Government at The University of Texas at Austin and taught at UC Berkeley’s School of Information from 2019 to 2025. My research draws on Terror Management Theory and Need for Cognitive Closure and uses experimental, survey, qualitative, and quantitative methods. I am especially interested in political behaviour in Mexico, the United States, and the United Kingdom, including Latino political participation in the United States. Beyond academia, I have worked as a speechwriter, political adviser, electoral commissioner, and political analyst. I also provide independent political research and survey consulting, including nationwide survey projects in Mexico through a strategic alliance with INMERC México. Outside work, I enjoy photography, cycling, walking, and swimming.
